Darin ZimpelRacine Poet Laureate 2011-2013Darin is a lifelong Racine, WI resident, where he lives with his wife, Bethany, a dog, three cats, and an never-ending stream of foster cats and kittens, He calls singer-songwriter, Suzanne Vega, his Poetic Godmother, as her debut album in 1985 was vital to help him understand poetry. He admires the work of Emily Dickinson and Wallace Stevens. For his own work, he says that the only pre-requisite to understand it are to be human and to take the time and care to fully digest it. He is a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, and he hates sock monkeys.
