Esteban Colon

Kenosha Poet Laureate, 2018-19

Kenosha Poet Laureate Esteban Colon hails from Chicago, where he performed in schools, at block parties, and on stage. He was a founding member of the Waiting 4 the Bus Poetry Collective, whose website identifies its troupe as an assemblage of “bards, hucksters, flim-flam artists, grifters, and matchstick men.” He started The Poetry Bomb, an annual program on the final Sunday in April that invites the public to populate as many public places as possible with performances of poetry. His work has received a prestigious Pushcart Prize nomination and has been collected in multiple chapbooks. You can also check out his full-length collection Things I Learned the Hard Way.
